No theme or plugin cookies
The theme and companion do not set cookies for reader progress. Browser-only tools use localStorage when a visitor chooses to save a position, preferences or an age-notice decision. These values remain on the device and do not form a server-side reading history.
The host or a separate WordPress service may use necessary cookies for administration or another function. Those are separate from anonymous reading tools and must be disclosed by the operator if enabled. This starter text covers the theme and companion defaults.
Local storage is not an encrypted backup or cross-device synchronization. Browser cleanup, private sessions, profile changes or storage eviction may remove it. Export only when you want to carry progress yourself.
The four browser storage keys
kt:v1:progress stores versioned positions, bookmark page numbers, optional notes, pace and an update timestamp. It remains until the visitor clears it or the browser removes site data.
kt:v1:prefs stores the active series and notification preference. It remains until cleared or removed by the browser. Notification permission itself is controlled by browser settings.
kt:v1:age-ok records an age-notice choice, acceptance time and expiry time. It expires after 30 days and is not included in a progress backup.
kt:v1:lastSeen stores a latest-page marker and visit time for the local new-since-last-visit feature. It remains until cleared or removed by the browser.
How to clear local data
Use your browser’s site settings to remove stored data for this website. Controls vary by browser; clearing site data usually removes localStorage and may also sign you out of WordPress administration.
Progress Backup can export a validated copy before you clear browser data. Store the copy somewhere you control. The export does not include the age acknowledgement, so a marked source link may show its notice again after a reset.
Use browser storage controls only if you are comfortable doing so. Remove keys you intend to reset and do not share a backup code or private bookmark note.
Storage failures and visitor choice
Some browsers restrict localStorage, especially in private or embedded contexts. The tool should display a visible notice and explain that progress may not persist. A failed write must never be presented as a successful save.
Reading tools remain available without saved progress. Visitors can browse guides and public index data without entering a position. Declining notifications does not disable the update list or RSS.
For wider handling, read the Privacy Policy. Questions can be sent through the Contact page at Not yet configured by the operator.
Analytics and future changes
Analytics is disabled by default. If the owner later enables an optional analytics script, the operator must update the Privacy Policy and this page before collection begins, identify the provider and describe additional requests or storage.
The initial release has no ads or advertising network. The mature-source acknowledgement is a first-party local preference, not an identity check or proof of age.
Review this policy whenever a plugin, theme setting or host configuration changes storage. This is practical information, not legal advice; a qualified lawyer should review it.
